Jessica's Birthday Party

Jessica is officially four years old!  My big girl had her birthday party at a park near our new house.  Some of our new friends came and helped us beat the crap out of a My Little Pony Nightmare Moon pinata.

Jessica got the first whack at Nightmare Moon.

Then she decided it would work better if she got a running start.

We had some snacks.

The girls helped me decorate the cupcakes the night before.

The wind blew out Jessica's candles for her.

Allison enjoyed the party as if it were HER party.

The girls ate the frosting off of two cupcakes each and then ate some of the pinata candy.
 SUGAR RUSH!!!!

It was beautiful weather, everyone was happy.  I had two helpers, Meema and "Handsome" (that's what Allison calls her daddy), so maybe that's why everything went so smoothly.

I hope Jessica gets to share Allison's birthday party as much as Allison got to share Jessica's.

Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay

We got to spend a wonderful week with Meema last week.  The first thing we did when she got to town was show her the Shark aquarium at one of the casinos downtown.  It was Meema's first time in Las Vegas.
The aquarium is a predator aquarium so they have alligators, piranhas and other stuff like that.

Allison stared at these jellyfish for a long time, I think she was tired and these jellyfish were relaxing for her.  I got a picture of Jessica staring at them.

There were lots of interesting fish.

The best parts of this aquarium were the stingray petting tank and the big shark tunnels.

Major Changes

We are meeting lots of new friends and finding plenty of fun places to play.  But, there are also some other major changes happening right now.  Jessica isn't taking naps anymore and Allison is learning to use the potty.

The like being scared by this wolf at the park.

Allison climbing the stairs at the super slides at Craig Ranch Regional Park.

There will be a lot more pool footage on the blog shortly.
Pool Jumper

One of our new friends is Pesenti, she is a few months older than Allison.

Allison was cracking me up on this slide.  She went down it just like this about a couple dozen times and then she found another slide and went down that one a couple dozen times.  She is into slides lately.

Jessica hyped up on sugar at Disney on Ice.

Jessica and Allison's favorite toy (daddy).
Here's a video of story time.

Now that we have daddy's computer too, we don't have to agree/take turns on Youtube videos.
Meema and Grandad sent some pretty awesome MLP sticker books.

Jessica was "protecting" Allison from something.
In the spirit of potty training Allison, Jessica spread out daddy's newspaper all over the floor.
We met Joe at the BX after work and he showed us the building he works in and then we played at the static airplane displays on base.

Jessica got her face painted during nap time.  This is supposed to be a tiger.
 Rudolph.
The Rudolph face paint inspired a Rudolph drawing.
Memma and Grandad also sent some comfy little sun dresses.
My big girl doesn't take naps anymore but she still enjoys being a little baby every once in a while.

Our Move

Meema and Grandad helped us move to Las Vegas over Easter weekend.  We got to say good bye to Grandpa and visit Funderland one last time on our way out of town.  Of course, pony rides are mandatory when we're at Funderland.

The drive was pretty much what you would expect with two preschoolers.  We stopped often and drove slow, but the girls were little angels.  Here's a video of one of our last stops before we arrived in Las Vegas, it required a total wardrobe change for Jessica.

The girls had Easter baskets and their daddy waiting for them at our new apartment when we arrived on Easter morning.  Meema and Grandad also surprised them with Lalaloopsy bubble mermaids.

A couple days after Easter we let the girls play with the makeup they got in their Easter baskets.  It got EVERYWHERE, but it was nothing a little goo gone wouldn't clean up.  Nonetheless, we are definitely not letting them play with makeup again for a very long time.
They've already got their model poses perfected.

Good part of our new apartment:  Two awesome pools!

Bad part of our apartment: It wasn't very clean and it's not the best part of town (but it's not a terrible part either, we're just trying to stay cautious.)  I've spent equal time cleaning and unpacking.
I joined two separate mom's groups our first week here.  Our first play date was at Centennial Hills park and we had a BLAST.
Here's a video of the splash pad at that park.  I've been told that almost every park in Las Vegas has a splash pad.  And there seems to be a lot of really fun parks here :), yay for us!

This the the fossil sandbox at the Aliante Nature Discovery park.

My favorite park so far is Craig Regional Park.  It is like five parks in one, I can't wait to take Joe there to check it out (we discovered it through a play date with one of our mom's groups).

Last Saturday we went to Children's Day at Spring Preserve.  It wasn't as cool as it sounded on it's website but the girls had fun on the bumper cars.

The parks are really great but nothing compares to having fun with their daddy.  Joe has really opened their little world up to a whole new type of games.  He pulls things out of their ears, jumps out of corners to scare them and takes care of those pesky monsters that are always hiding on mommy's head.  (I don't know how she came up with it, but Allison tells daddy that I have a monster on my head.)  But, seriously, how did we ever get along with out daddy?

We've shown the girls our new home site so they could see what it looks like when you build a house.  They've played at the playground across the street from our new home.  And, we let them run wild in the model home.  I think they are really going to enjoy living in our Las Vegas house.  Here's a video from the model home visit.
