Egg Hunt

Joe's squadron hosted an Egg Hunt extravaganza at the baseball fields last Sunday. Jessica was good at gathering the eggs... until she figured out that there was stuff inside them... candy... then all she wanted to do was open them and get the candy out. She had fun playing on the playground with daddy, collecting eggs and jumping in the bounce house.

Backyard Blog

I got a bit of Spring fever this year and decided that I had to have grass. I sprinkled some fire ant poison over our sand/dirt, then I raked out some topsoil and then I put some sod down. So, hopefully, now we won't have to worry so much about fire ants. I made it pretty toddler/baby friendly so we could invite our friends over to play. We have a water table, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and grass! I am also going to a little plastic pool when I find one that I like. Jessica loves having friends over and she is good at blowing bubbles... but she eats the chalk. Allison seems to enjoy outside time just as much as Jessica.

Quite the Characters

Allison has become quite the little comedian lately. She likes to startle me by shrieking and listening to her experiment with her voice is cute and funny. Here is a video of her doing some vocal experimentation and another video of her laughing because Jessica is getting raspberries blown on her feet.

Jessica also has some tricks up her sleeves. She learned the word "butt" today and pointed at every person's butt who we passed by in Walmart saying "butt". Under my breath I would say, "yep sweetie that's their butt". Needless to say, I hurried out of Walmart as fast as possible.

Steph and Hannah

My BFF, Stephanie, drove over to spend a few hours with us. I had her meet us at Ellis Lake because I thought Hannah would enjoy feeding the ducks. Hannah has changed so much since I last saw her. It reminds me that time is short and my little girls are going to be all grown up before I know it. Hannah sure is becoming a delightful young lady. After we fed some rather ugly ducks and very aggressive Canadian geese we found a neat little park in Yuba City and let the girls play for awhile. Hannah fit in the baby swing, hee hee. Jessica thought that was great, a friend to swing with.

Playtown USA and the Animal Sanctuary

Joe came to California for our final week and we managed to show him a good time. Playtown USA is a park that I use to go to as a kid. Yep, I rode the Yogi and drank from the lion fountain. Jessica met a cute little pug dog that she got to pet. The ice cream man showed up and we all got ice cream. Jess and I got push pops... I should have gotten just one for us to share.

The animal sanctuary was pretty neat too. We got to see lions, tigers and bears really close up... oh my! I think Jessica's favorite were the parrots and the horned owls. I think the parrots were checking her out as much as she was checking them out.

Ellis Lake

Ellis Lake is a giant pond (1.2 mile circumference) in Marysville. It is home to a plethora of birds, including ducks and geese. Most of the birds are friendly... I mean hungry... hee hee. Jessica had the time of her life feeding them dollar store bread. As you can see, she also fed herself some of the duck bread. I was more afraid of the big hissy ones than she was. When they hissed at her she just smiled really big and hissed back, crazy girl.

A Mighty Litte Zoo

Grandpa took us to the zoo in Sacramento. It was small but fun. Jessica loves ducks so she was distracted by a couple of ducks when we first walked in. The tiger was the coolest part for me. Jessica was a little horrified by the orangutans and every bird she saw was a duck, even the flamingos were ducks.
