Happy Birthday Jessica!

On Jessica's birthday we made sure she practiced blowing out candles and eating cake so she will be a pro at it on Saturday when we have her big party at the Splash Park.

It only took a few seconds for her to figure out.  Then we had to keep lighting them for her to blow out, over and over...
When it came time for her to eat the cake, she didn't want to sit down so Uncle Eric held the plate for her to stand up in the chair and eat it.

Little sister desperately wanted to try some cake.

After Jess was finished eating, we took her to the bathroom to show her the mess she made and that pleased her very much.

She looks like a little hobo baby with her cake frosting beard.

I will upload some cute videos later, sorry for the delay but I am having technical difficulties.

Friday Fair

The Chico Fair was held this weekend and we thought Jessica would have fun doing Fair stuff:  Riding on Grandad's shoulders while sipping limeade.  Allison enjoyed the sights and sounds as much as her big sister.

Jessica rode the big blue dragon on the carousel.  She started crying for Meema about 60 seconds into the ride and I had to hold her on the dragon for about 5 minutes while she cried and all the onlookers gave us sad faces.

This little billy goat was one of Jessica's favorite attractions.
Uncle Eric shared his funnel cake with Jess.
Then we took Jessica on the teacups.

The monkey that shook your hand if you gave him a dollar was, hands down, the very coolest thing at the fair.  We donated two dollars and got two really cute videos.

After the teacups we rode the dizzy bears, that's not what they were called but that is a more accurate name... actually nauseous bears would be a good name too.  (Especially after eating corn dogs and funnel cake.)

After the throw up bears Jessica threw a tantrum, maybe those bears didn't agree with her either, but it was nothing a bottle wouldn't help.

Uncle Eric has two pet mice.  The white one is named Rae and he lets Jessica hold her.  You can see it crawling up Jessica's arm if you look close.
After the fair Jessica danced in the mirror a little before going to bed.

And Daddy went to visit the state capitol in Tallahassee

A Visit with Grandpa

We got to spend some time with Grandpa on Wednesday.  First, we had breakfast at the Dancing Tomato.  The tables were covered with paper and they brought Jessica some crayons.  Although, I think Grandpa had as much fun coloring as Jess did.

After my dad treated his girls to breakfast, he took us to the mall and bought his granddaughters a bunch of new outfits.   Jess n Alli really needed new clothes, they are outgrowing everything!  Allison is in 12 months and Jessica is wearing 3T... but that will change in a month or so.

Jessica couldn't be near Ellis Lake and not feed the ducks.  So she fed those mutant duck/geese.  I am reminded of the horror movie "The Birds" while I watch Jessica being swarmed by those aggressive winged beasts.

Jessica kept patting Grandpa and putting her arm around him.

We found some really cute little ducklings.  This momma duck had eight!  I thought I had it tough.  I'm just happy Jessica couldn't get close enough to "smaaaaash" one of them.

Jessica and Grandpa like to sing Opra together.

California Mid visit blog

Just in case our loyal blog followers were wondering, here's what Joe's girls have been up to lately in California...

We drove up the canyon to meet Great Grandpa Ray and Rosemary for brunch at a motorcycle bar called Scooters.  My Uncle Jerry came along and surprised us.
Uncle Jerry helped chase Jessica around.

After brunch, we drove over to Grandpa Ray and Rosemary's house to visit with their dogs and feed the fish in their pond.  Jessica kept saying, "no, no doggie".
Jessica enjoyed climbing on their rock fountain.

We've been taking the girls to the park a lot.

Mooma was quite a trooper today.  She wore Allison in the carrier and chased Jessica around the playground for an hour while I ran.  Allison was so exhausted that she passed out in the carrier.
Here are a couple videos of Jessica doing the "hot dog" dance from the Mickey Mouse show.

The girls

The 'girls' took a road trip over to Lakeport, CA to see our girls, Steph and Hannah.  It was a long drive but totally worth it.  We spent the afternoon catching up while Steph's man, Jay, BBQ'd for us.

Hannah was just a baby when Joe and I got married and now she is going to be 7 at the end of July!
I sure hope my little girls are as well mannered and helpful as Hannah when they're 7.

It was a good day.

Play Date with Addison

On Wednesday Jessica and Allison had a play date with their California cousin, Addison.  Addi is a very sweet natured polite little girl.  Allison loved having two big girls to interact with.  Jessica followed Addi around like a baby duckling.  Everything was wonderful until it came time to share stuff.  Jessica is in a "mine" phase.  Even baby sister was "mine" and that seemed to spoil the enjoyment of holding Allison for Addi.
Jessica was pretending to be pregnant with this baby balloon.

Jessica made Addi ride on the bench swing with her.  I don't think she is grabbing that pole to hold on, it's to keep Addi in.
Here's a video of the girls on the swing.
Two little monkeys jumping on the bed.
No monkeys were hurt in the filming of this video.
Addison had a big job helping me teach Jessica how to share.  She kept handing her stuff and saying, "Now it's your turn Jessica".

Jessica kept walking up to Addi and patting her back and laying her head on her shoulder.  It was a bit too snuggly for Addi at times who would ask her to stop "bothering her".
It was a pretty fun day.  You should have seen the house before I cleaned up!

This One is for Daddy

Joe's three girls are in California to see our GGP (Great Grandma Pat).  We are sure missing daddy on this trip and that is why we are dedicating this blog to him.  Here's what we've been up to over the Mother's Day weekend Joe:

Jessica demanded that Meema (formerly Mooma) and Allison get on the bench swing with her.  Jessica has been saying "mine" about everything including mooma so is just comes out meema and we are just going to go with it.

Grandad couldn't resist picking up my chunky little baby when she woke up from a nap.  Jessica was still sleeping so we sat in the car playing with Alli to let our little J bird get a full nap.

Jessica got to chase the ducks at Ellis Lake on Friday.  We stopped by there to let her stretch her legs a little on the way back from seeing GGP.  Allison enjoyed the ducks as much as Jess did.

Meema and J enjoyed playing with some playdough.

We took Grandad to Caper Acres to play on Saturday because we wanted to wear him out so he'd have a good nap, hee hee.

Allison loves being included in the stuff that big sister does and Jessica enjoys using Allison as a back rest.
