Mall Madness

Joe's job took him to an air show in Alaska for the weekend so I'm on my own with our little J bird. I have plenty to keep me busy. Actually, since Joe showed me the back way to the Rolling Oaks Mall, I have gone there the past two days in a row. Jessica, it turns out, loves to shop.

We have a system worked out, she sleeps while I shop.

Occassionally she will wake up when she senses that there is a clearance rack nearby.
So many colors, and 70% off too!
Early this morning she enjoyed a little tummy time.

Here's a bonus picture because I love these little panda pants.
Bunker loves the laundry basket so I had to share these pics too.

I've been taking pictures with my phone and sending them to Joe in Alaska but he said they aren't coming through so these next two pics are for my "baby daddy".
This is the one titled "Good Night Daddy":
This one was titled "Good Morning Daddy":
We miss you Joe!

Weekend in Review

We started off our weekend on Friday night with an NCLEX victory celebration dinner at Outback Steakhouse. I got Filet Mignon and Snowcrab; Joe got ribs and coconut shrimp. Yes, it was as delicious as it sounds. Joe got a little upset that the waitress didn't say anything about how cute Jessica was (he has become accustomed to that now). He mentioned that it was going to affect her tip... harsh. Here's a picture of our car ride to the restaurant.
Saturday morning Jessica and I were all snuggles and daddy got a couple candid shots.

Saturday evening we walked the 2 mile loop around our neighborhood. Jessica stayed awake for the first mile and then the gentle bumping of the uneven payment eventually jiggled her to sleep.
You can see the new bug shield I found for the carseat. Not only does it keep out the bugs, it also protects her from little redheaded boys; a feature that Joe really likes. Sunday morning we headed to church. I dressed her up in a sweet little white dress and made Joe take pictures of us while we waited for the sermon to start.

Monday, Jess and I went to Walmart. The trip went smoothly until I got to the register and realized I had forgot to put my wallet back in my purse and it was sitting next to the computer at home. I had the Walmart employee hold my stuff and went back home and got it... it was the same Walmart employee that thinks I'm a snob... how humiliating.
Tuesday was Jessica's 2 month checkup with her pediatrician, Dr. Swedean. As I was all ready to walk out the door of our house, Jessica blew up her diaper and spit up all over her outfit so that made me 10 minutes late to pick up Joe and he had a worried look on his face when I pulled up. We went to the Well baby clinic so that meant less germs for Jessica. Dr. Swedean was impressed with her progress. She was 10 lbs 1 oz which put her in the 25th percentile for a 2 month old, which is really good considering they didn't factor in that she was 5 weeks early. Her head circumference and length were in the 50th percentile. She is 22 1/4 inches long now. She got her first shots too. Three shots in all, with one in the right and two in the left thigh. I held her in my lap and watched the woman's technique while Joe stood next to us with the pacifier ready in his hand. Right before Jess got her shots she discovered her left thumb for the first time... the lady had to give her an oral preparation and Joe and I didn't want to take her thumb out of her mouth because it was just so darn sweet. When she got her first shot her eyes got really wide and by the end of her second shot she was screaming. Daddy was ready with the paci and she sucked on it hard for about 20 seconds and then closed her eyes. We saw her first real tears but, all in all, she was a real trooper and took it pretty well. We gave her a bottle in the waiting room before we went home. You can barely see the two flesh colored bandaids in these pictures.
It is cute that Joe is still clutching her pacifier in his hand ten minutes after the ordeal was over. You might have noticed that mine and Jessica's outfits were coordinated... that was no accident. The night went smoothly and Jessica didn't seem to feel too bad, she just seemed a little tired and didn't get a fever at all.

Friday Follies

When daddy is away, Lexi and Jessica play! Well, we play when he is home too, but he had to stay at work late tonight so we got some extra mommy and Jess time today. We played dress up and I swear she poses for me! Here just look:

Work it, work it.
Do your thang girl!
Oh yeah, uh huh!
Dynamite!
Absolutely Fabulous.

Here's a video I took after the photo shoot. She just loves her crib... don't tell her that she isn't suppose to like it (please).

We've had to start putting bibs on Jess because she's been spitting up more. The bib says hug me, the face says feed me.
And after I fed her, this is what happened.

When she woke up she was very serious.
Here's a video of Jess doing what Jess does best. See if you can figure out what that is.

And here's a video of Jessica enjoying her mobile.

I Passed the NCLEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my unofficial results from the company that gives the test and it said "Pass". The sweetest four letter word I will ever hear! Jessica was on my lap when I found out the news and this was her reaction:

"What's that mommy, you are a licensed nurse now?"
"Yay, now you can pay more attention to me."
"That computer screen has really got my attention."
"Wait a minute, this means you are going to have to go to work now doesn't it!?"
(Don't worry she'll be hanging out with her daddy since most new nurses have to start out on the night shift anyway.) So look out healthcare here comes Lexi!

Here we are gazing deep into eachother's eyes.
Another lazy afternoon in the daddy chair.
When the daddy chair is unavailable she settles for the boppy.
Bunker has been exceptionally cute this week so he is making another appearance on the family blog.
Total Couch potato.
This is his usual lounging position.
Our next big hurdle is selling our house in Texas. We are dropping the price 5G's today. I better stop blogging and get this place cleaned up for a possible showing.
