Weekend in Review

We started off our weekend on Friday night with an NCLEX victory celebration dinner at Outback Steakhouse. I got Filet Mignon and Snowcrab; Joe got ribs and coconut shrimp. Yes, it was as delicious as it sounds. Joe got a little upset that the waitress didn't say anything about how cute Jessica was (he has become accustomed to that now). He mentioned that it was going to affect her tip... harsh. Here's a picture of our car ride to the restaurant.
Saturday morning Jessica and I were all snuggles and daddy got a couple candid shots.

Saturday evening we walked the 2 mile loop around our neighborhood. Jessica stayed awake for the first mile and then the gentle bumping of the uneven payment eventually jiggled her to sleep.
You can see the new bug shield I found for the carseat. Not only does it keep out the bugs, it also protects her from little redheaded boys; a feature that Joe really likes. Sunday morning we headed to church. I dressed her up in a sweet little white dress and made Joe take pictures of us while we waited for the sermon to start.

Monday, Jess and I went to Walmart. The trip went smoothly until I got to the register and realized I had forgot to put my wallet back in my purse and it was sitting next to the computer at home. I had the Walmart employee hold my stuff and went back home and got it... it was the same Walmart employee that thinks I'm a snob... how humiliating.
Tuesday was Jessica's 2 month checkup with her pediatrician, Dr. Swedean. As I was all ready to walk out the door of our house, Jessica blew up her diaper and spit up all over her outfit so that made me 10 minutes late to pick up Joe and he had a worried look on his face when I pulled up. We went to the Well baby clinic so that meant less germs for Jessica. Dr. Swedean was impressed with her progress. She was 10 lbs 1 oz which put her in the 25th percentile for a 2 month old, which is really good considering they didn't factor in that she was 5 weeks early. Her head circumference and length were in the 50th percentile. She is 22 1/4 inches long now. She got her first shots too. Three shots in all, with one in the right and two in the left thigh. I held her in my lap and watched the woman's technique while Joe stood next to us with the pacifier ready in his hand. Right before Jess got her shots she discovered her left thumb for the first time... the lady had to give her an oral preparation and Joe and I didn't want to take her thumb out of her mouth because it was just so darn sweet. When she got her first shot her eyes got really wide and by the end of her second shot she was screaming. Daddy was ready with the paci and she sucked on it hard for about 20 seconds and then closed her eyes. We saw her first real tears but, all in all, she was a real trooper and took it pretty well. We gave her a bottle in the waiting room before we went home. You can barely see the two flesh colored bandaids in these pictures.
It is cute that Joe is still clutching her pacifier in his hand ten minutes after the ordeal was over. You might have noticed that mine and Jessica's outfits were coordinated... that was no accident. The night went smoothly and Jessica didn't seem to feel too bad, she just seemed a little tired and didn't get a fever at all.

I'm guessing you bring that bug shield along to Georgia to keep little blonde boys away from Jessica too.

It is always hard to watch your little ones get shots. You and Lindsay as I remember had some reaction to your shots. It was short lived though. Her little church outfit looks so cute honey.
Thanks for the blog update !

Jessica was a little trooper with the three shots. I think it hurts the parents more, just watching, than for the little ones.
Jessica looked very pretty in her white eyelet dress.
You and Joseph are doing all the right things for Jessica.
Love, Lady

Watching your baby get her shots is very traumatic, I know. Poor baby! Your leg would get pink and feel warm after some shots, I can't remember which ones. Lexi you and Jess just look so beautiful in these pictures! Two perfect angels! I still can't believe how chubby she is getting, I love it. These blogs are a real treat, I look forward to each new one more than the last. Thank you so much.
