Remember the Alamo
We said there wouldn't be anymore Texas posts but then Joe realized we almost made a huge blunder. Jessica has lived 20 miles from downtown San Antonio for the first five months of her life but has yet to visit Texas' most famous site, The Alamo. Being such a history buff, Joe said it would be unacceptable for Jessica to miss out on the opportunity. Apparently it was even more important than watching the Vols' game on TV because we made the trek in the middle of a busy college football Saturday. Even though little Jessica will not remember going, she'll always have this picture to prove she did what every native Texan should do.

Toodle-oo Texas
Texas will always be the state where I owned my first home, got my nursing license, became a mom and fed a zebra with my bare hands. We've made many memories and now it's time to move on. The movers are arriving early tomorrow morning to pack up our stuff and ship it to Pensacola, Florida. So... there won't be another blog for a while due to the upheaval. I will try to make this good. Jessica is showing off her new tie dye onsie made by my brother's girlfriend, Shauna.
Then we decided to show off the chubbiness with a little "diaper only" ensemble.

She thinks it is a bunch of fun getting wrapped up in the blanket (Molly sent her the blanket).

Howling Halloween
I just couldn't wait for Halloween to post these adorable pictures of Jess in her costume. Besides, maybe this will get everyone in the Halloween spirit...
My little monkey.

The costume has a tail too.
I couldn't tell if it was the costume or the fact that we were having a photo shoot but gosh she was sure pleased about something.
Her best monkey face:
We got the costume from Target and it is 6mo size.

Here is a video of her in her costume.
Despite my best efforts and frequent nail clipping, Jessica still managed to scratch herself (just to the right of her nose).
Jessica and I practiced howling today... she wants to be a howler monkey for Halloween.
Sitting in this chair like a big girl pleases her majesty very much.
Still not much hair but the little bit of fuzz feels like velvet.

New Tricks
We went to Panera Bread for lunch the other day and Jessica got to ride a horsie-see video below.
After lunch we went to Target and got Jess a Bumbo seat so she can sit up all by herself like a big girl. She kinda slants and wiggles around but she is mostly sitting up and so it pleases her.

Here's a video of her squirming around in the Bumbo Seat.
Not to be outshined by that little human baby, my first born (Pinkteron) decided to show off her mad play skills with the little human's bouncy seat.
I knew that she was sitting in this seat because I always found cat hair in it in the mornings but actually watching her crawl up and snuggle and go crazy in it was quite amusing.

In this video you can see why Pinkerton was first named "Psycho" before we opted for a different, cuter name.
Yep, Pinkerton loves all things Jessica, except for Jessica.

Smile Sale: 10 cents/dozen
Jessica is blessing us with endless smiles lately. She smiles at the drop of a hat. Except between the hours of 6-9pm, that's her cranky time.
We were snuggling on the bed when I took this picture.
Can you read her onsie? It says, "Party Tonight My Crib 3 am". I made it for her.

Walking Tall & Sleeping Soundly
I bought a new carrier since Jessica didn't like the one we had and I thought it looked uncomfortable. She likes this new one and we've been using it a lot. Tonight we went out for a walk as a family for "National Night Out". There were tons of people out and about in our neighborhood and it was fun showing off our baby.
Jessica chews on her fists constantly now and the drool seems endless. Joe has been asking me if the copious amounts of drool are normal and I have to reassure him with the fact that I remember my little brother drooling even more than Jess. He can't understand how she doesn't get dehydrated, I don't understand it myself.
We had to bring her glasses with us. She only wore them for the photo, but it was fun. Her head has grown a lot, these glasses use to be way too big for her.
Jessica rode on the swing with me for the first time...
Kinda a terrified look on her face in this one.
Just a cute picture:
Jessica fell asleep in church on Sunday, she was totally out. I was jealous.
At night, after she nurses, she falls asleep in my lap before I put her in her crib. It's funny because nothing will wake her up as long as I'm holding her but as soon as I put her in the crib those big blue eyes pop open and I stare hard at me. I know what she's thinking: "not so fast mom".
And here are some pictures of our poor neglected kitties. They are sure going to miss that big bedroom window when we move.
Pinkerton likes to snuggle with all things Jessica... except for Jessica, of course.
Bunker stages his attack from beneath the cover of the walker.
Jessica had her 4 month check up with the pediatrician last Friday. She is 13 lbs 6 oz and is in the 39th percentile for her age. She screamed a bit harder when she got her shots and cried some tears but she fell right to sleep as soon as she nursed. It was harder on me this time too, I actually got nauseous hearing her scream and knowing she was in pain. She is fine now and she doesn't even remember it.
