Diaper Rash Days

We've been plagued by diaper rashes lately.  The doctor told me, on our most recent visit, that it's probably just due to the heat and humidity of the summer and my girls having sensitive skin.  That makes sense because the rashes seem to flare up any time we spend too long outside.  Jessica's rash has finally cleared up and Allison is on the mend.  I have been trying absolutely everything I could to make these girls comfortable:  baking soda baths, gobs of Desitin, endless trips to the pediatrician, naked/undie time, waking up three times a night to change them and even cloth diapers!  I doesn't matter how hard you try, when your babies' butts are red, you feel like a failure.  A couple days ago Jessica found the Desitin and tried to help momma out by applying it to Allison during some "Air time".

She was very proud of the job she did.
I said no at first and then ran and grabbed the camera.
Jessica gets excited about her "red rabbit" undies.
 Allison in cloth diapers.
 Joe feeding the girls chocolate...
funny how Allison spits out baby food but begs for more chocolate... they are definitely my daughters!

Beach

We went to the beach per Jessica's request.  Actually, I hear her say, "I go a beach" or "I go a pool" several times a day.  Going to the beach is a lot of work but it's worth it for the 30 minutes or so we spend there, because I always see sheer joy on her face.   I think I would rather have the girls roll around in mud, it would be easier to clean them up afterward.  They both enjoy a nice salty mouthful of sand too.

We met some friends at Sunset Grille on Thursday and Jessica sat at the kids table.  She was a very good girl and made her mommy very proud.

Here's another one of her silly faces.

Finger paints

Allison turned 9 months old today so we celebrated by breaking out the finger paints and letting her try them for the first time.  Alli was an expert right away, she even showed Jessica a cool new slap technique.

The cleanup seemed to thrill these girls just as much as the paints.

Bath time is their favorite time and Allison hasn't even needed the bumbo seat for over a week now.

As you might know, we've been battling some pretty nasty diaper rashes lately.  We created our own conconction of different ointments and made the mistake of keeping it within Jessica's reach.  Just before nap time, I was putting away groceries and Jessica was watching TV... or so I thought...

I said, "Really, Jessica!?" and she said, "I go a beach momma!"
Joe says, "Jessica can resist anything except temptation".

Little Rebels

We've been battling the diaper rash from HE double hockey sticks but, between diaper changes and doctors appointments, we've managed to have a little bit of fun.
The employees of Chuck E Cheeses are starting to recognize us when we walk in.  Jess and Alli have joined Chuck E's gang, total devotion, they even got tattoos.

This wagon is their new favorite toy, now that Alli is able to sit up in it.  We took the girls to the pool at the end of our street on Saturday and riding there in the wagon added even more fun to the pool trip.
Here's a video of a wagon ride.

Jessica is learning to surf on my ironing board.

Allison has to try to do every thing big sister does.

Here's a video to give you an idea of Allison's new mobility (sometimes she gets stuck in uncomfortable positions but she usually finds her way out of them with out help from momma).

Highlight of Jessica's week: finding a baby frog that hopped into our house.  I think we managed to release it back into the wild before it got smooshed.
